Dec 11, 2007 - Themed Meetings
Toastmasters meetings are always fun, but throw in a theme and add to the
enjoyment.
If you are the Toastmaster, plan ahead. Let your speakers know ahead of time
and see if they can weave your theme into their speeches. The Table Topics
Master can come up with questions and your Grammian can provide a Word of the
Day based on your theme.
Themes are always easy to find.
I was once Toastmaster on the Ides of March. With the help of the Internet, I
was able to produce the entire agenda in Latin!
Is it the start of a new season? Fall (autumn) is always a popular theme. How
about a special day such as Pearl Harbor Day or St. Patricks Day?
For Halloween you could have your members come dressed up and each speaker
should give a ghost story. Your Table Topics Master may ask you to describe
what it is like being a ghost or seeing a ghost.
So, be aware of the time of year, what's going on and what is important in your
life. Weave it into your meetings and have a little fun and excitement with it.
